  Mock Orchards   Mock Red Hill, located in the Hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula, is a well-established Bio-dynamic apple orchard and processing facility. The family-owned and operated orchards has been producing high-quality, Bio-dynamic (enhanced organic) fresh fruit, apple juice, apple ciders and apple cider vinegar for the local region and beyond for many years. Being certified Bio-dynamic, produce has been grown and processed according to the standards of the Bio-dynamic Research Institute. The use of environmentally friendly, ecologically safe, biological methods to activate and nurture the soil, plants and animals within nature's organisation, without the use of artificial or synthetic chemicals, fertilisers, genetically modified organisms, or any unnecessary additives.

The farm has been converted from conventional farming to organic and was certified five years ago. They grow Potatoes, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery, Sweet Potato, Cabbage, Pumpkin and Capsicum.

  Denis Angelino (Gravelly Orchard Farm - Chem-Free -)   On The Gravelly Orchard farm, some of the apple trees still being harvested are around 50 years old. 20 years ago, Denis switched to chemical-free farming and is proud of where he is today. He feels the hard work paying off when people enjoy his fruit.

  Dick and Dora Rochford (Organic - Certified - OGA)   Dick and Dora Rochford have been farming garlic on their 50 acre farm in Tenterfield since 1987. Dick grew up on an organic farm in Ireland and immigrated to Australia in 1975. They have followed organic practices for years and have been certified organic for some time.   Jon Dukamp - Spring Creek Harvest   Jon is a long time gardener who has moved to the Granite Belt to pursue his dream of farming.  He loves growing heirloom varieties and has great mentors in the other farmers of Certified Naturally Farmed.

  James Branson   James has taken over Bruce Raabe's farm and is hoping to continue producing a great range of produce like garlic, melons, corn, cucumbers and beetroot in the deep rich soils near Mt Tyson. James grows under organic certification.

  Josh and Jamie Bennet-Jones (Organic Practices (not certified) - Bio intensive and Permaculture based)   Josh and Jamie nurture an acre of intensive market gardens on their property using permaculture principles.  They use all natural fertilizers including green manures, green matter and composts;all hand tilled with no machinery on site; picked fresh to order.  They believe in three pillars of sustainability (1) Self-sustainability, (2) Community sustainability and (3) Environmental sustainability.  Everything is picked while young and full of vitality and sweetness and delivered to Food Connect within 24 hours.

Later, Janice returned to farm and as conditions improved, they were able to farm again. They now supply restaurants from Hervey Bay to Noosa.

  Glen and Margaret  (Chem-Free - working towards organic cert)   Glenn Freier grows some brilliant Rhubarb as well as assorted greens in collaboration with Margaret on her Mt Tamborine property.  In the rich red soils of Mt Tamborine, Glenn and his helpers use lots of compost, cover crops and traditional farming methods to produce amazing quality veges.  What they pick on Monday will be in your boxes that week.  They also support small start up farmers on their property as well as run an a-farm stall on the weekends.

  John Morrow   John grows mainly avocados, as well as some citrus, in the rich soils of Mt Tamborine.  The season there is slightly later than Brisbane allowing us to extend the harvest almost up to Christmas.  He was one of the original members of the Green Shed and has been supplying Food Connect for over 10 years.

  Mario Giacosa (Chem-Free - )   Once conventional farmers, the Giacosas are now on the chemical-free path having taken various biological farming courses. They grow 15 varieities of apples and 25 varieties of stone fruit to ensure species diversity and a resilient farm. They are please to show visitors their ecological farming methods.

  Neil and Tania Richards   Last year Neil and Tania Richards took over operation of the Big Orange farm gate store from Eric and Kate Sturgess. Food Connect worked with Eric since 2006, enjoying his super sweet imperial mandarins and other citrus, his sense of humour and hard work to move towards chemical free growing and tree ripening. We reckon Neil and Tania will do an equally good job, with decades of experience in citrus growing and a new commitment to go as organic as possible.

He is the 3rd generation to farm bananas near Bangalow, 1.5 hours from Brisbane, and has developed an expert knowledge and continued respect for the soil and environment. He acts as a mentor and service provider to other growers in the district and reckons he has the best tasting fruit available. Neville uses no chemicals directly on his banana plants, and with support from Food Connect is working to eliminate even the small amount of weed control he uses by mulching.
